Platforms, hardware, and networks
Choose the right devices for each role
Baby Mode needs dependable camera and microphone hardware near the nursery. Parent Mode needs a camera only for QR pairing and a microphone only when walkie-talkie is enabled.
Android phones and tablets
Android 9 or later. The native Jetpack Compose app supports portrait and landscape, background nursery audio, Parent audio playback, and Android picture-in-picture for active Parent video.
iPhone and iPad
iOS or iPadOS 15 or later. The native SwiftUI app supports portrait and landscape, including an adaptive phone-style layout on iPad.
Native Mac app
The separate SwiftUI/AppKit app targets macOS 11 Big Sur or later as a Universal 2 product for Intel and Apple silicon. It supports built-in, external USB, and available Continuity Cameras. Mac App Store release preparation is still in progress.
Mixed platform pairs
The shared encrypted Streamer and control protocol are designed so supported Android, Apple mobile, and Mac devices can take either Baby or Parent roles. Controls are limited to capabilities reported by the Baby device.
Local and routed networks
Local Direct is based on authenticated reachability, not matching Wi-Fi names. Compatible Wi-Fi, Ethernet-to-Wi-Fi, and routed VPN scenarios may work when the devices can reach each other.
Remote connections
Router Direct uses compatible router mapping or reverse routes. If direct methods fail, the app can offer the encrypted Premium relay. Quality depends on bandwidth, latency, router behavior, mobile coverage, and current server capacity.
Platform-specific controls
Mobile Baby devices may expose front and rear cameras, camera light, screen brightness, focus, and exposure controls when supported by their hardware. A Mac Baby device exposes its real named cameras but never remote display-brightness or camera-light controls.
What you need
- Two supported devices for Baby and Parent roles.
- A working camera and microphone on the Baby device.
- A stable mount or surface with an unobstructed view.
- Reliable power, with devices and cables kept safely out of the baby’s reach.
- Camera, microphone, local-network, and notification permissions appropriate to the selected role.
- A tested connection from the place where the Parent device will actually be used.
