Baby Monitor help and frequently asked questions

These answers reflect the current Android, iPhone/iPad, and native Mac implementations, including the differences imposed by each platform.

Which device should run Baby Mode?

Choose the device with the most reliable camera, microphone, power, and network connection near the nursery. Keep it on a stable surface with the device and every cable out of the baby’s reach.

How do I pair a Parent device?

Open Parent Control in Baby Mode, choose Add Child in Parent Mode, and scan the time-limited QR code. The pairing is usable only after protected server activation and confirmation by the exact devices.

Can Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac work together?

The shared protocol is designed for mixed supported platforms. Available controls depend on the Baby device hardware and app version. The native Mac version is still being prepared for Mac App Store release.

Can the app work away from home?

Yes, when a usable route is available. Automatic mode tries authenticated Local paths, compatible Router Direct paths, and then offers an encrypted Premium relay. Network and relay availability are not guaranteed.

What happens on a slow connection?

The streamer can reduce video quality and frame rate. On a heavily constrained route it can use periodic photos with live audio, then restore video when capacity improves. You can also select audio-only or photo mode manually.

Can the relay server see or hear the nursery?

The live session is end-to-end encrypted between paired devices. A Premium relay can transport encrypted video, photos, audio, talk-back, transferred media, and commands, but cannot read that content.

Where does Cry Detection run?

The bundled TensorFlow Lite model runs on the Baby device. Nursery audio is not sent to a cloud AI service for cry classification. Detection can still miss a cry or produce a false alert.

Which alerts can Parent Mode receive?

Depending on platform support and notification settings, alerts can report detected crying, low Baby-device battery, unexpected disconnects, and overheating on supported mobile Baby devices. Test alerts before each important monitoring session.

Can I save photos or recordings?

Parent Mode can take photos and record active video, photo, or audio streams. Export is explicit. After media is saved outside Baby Monitor, the selected gallery, library, file location, other apps, and device users control access to it.

Why are some remote controls unavailable?

Controls follow the capabilities reported by the Baby device and the active stream mode. For example, Mac does not expose remote display brightness or a camera light, and visual camera controls are disabled while Night Mode or audio-only monitoring is active.

What should I check if the devices do not connect?

Confirm that both devices are online, the pairing remains authorized, required permissions are enabled, and operating-system battery or background restrictions are not stopping the app. Retry on a stable network or choose another connection method.
